Veteran French actress Martine Schambacher, sometimes credited as Marthine Schambacher, doesn’t have a ton of on screen credits to her name, but she’s been in the business long enough to know her way around both the theatrical stage and a film set! Martine is one of those grand dames of the French theatre, walking the boards in many plays and musicals over the years and endearing herself to audiences of all generations for her sensitive and thoughtful portrayals of some of the great roles in theatrical history. She didn’t even set foot on a sound stage until well past the start of the new millennium, making her something of a late bloomer in the world of film and television. Her on screen debut came with a role in the short film It Wasn’t War (2003), followed by her feature film debut two years later as the mother of one of the titular Regular Lovers (2005). She plied her trade across a number of films and television shows over the years, with memorable roles including the role of Josy in Hippocrates: Diary of a French Doctor (2014), Madeleine in The Party’s Over (2017), and as Sandrine in a 2020 episode of the long running farcical French series Call My Agent! Martine was also a late bloomer when it came to going nude on film, making her nude debut in the Amazon Original film The Mad Women’s Ball (2021), baring her boobs and buns during a group bathing scene! The phrase “better late than never” certainly applies as we love seeing an older woman like Martine throwing caution to the wind!
