If it takes a more mature, matronly great dame to get your blood going, then take a gander at the comely but common beauty of Bess Armstrong. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Bess attended the Bryn Mawr School for Girls and Brown University, where she Latin and Theater and appeared in over 100 theater productions. She started her acting career off-off-Broadway and later made her way to onscreen work. Since Bess’ debut on the not-quite-a-hit series On Our Own (1977), Bess has been making plain Janes sexy. She’s spent the better part of her career on the small screen in such made-for-TV fare as How to Pick Up Girls! (1978) and Christmas Every Day (1996), as well as some theatrical teasers such as Jaws 3-D (1983) and That Darn Cat (1997). But she’s best remembered as Claire Danes‘s tempting mom on the short-lived series My So-Called Life (1994). Of course, there was a time when Bess was still an aspiring young actress willing to do anything to make it big. The lovely lady made Mr. Skin big when she appeared in The House of God (1984), offering a lingering look at her love buds whilst bathed in examination-room fluorescent light. Other than that, there’s some brief nudity in The Four Seasons (1981) — her buns pop out of the water while she’s swimming — and a peek at Bess in lingerie in Jekyll and Hyde…Together Again (1982) — but for lingerie, the look is pretty chaste.
