It took the nuthouse sleeper Girl, Interrupted (1999) to bring the kooky come-on Angela Bettis to cinema fans’ attention, where she played Janet next to Winona Ryder and Angelina Jolie. But Mr. Skin has been following the svelte sway of arousing Angela since the ’90s when she made her film debut as Maria in Franco Zeffirelli’s film Sparrow (1993) at the age of 18. She let a few years pass, then bloomed in TV guest spots on Legacy, Sliders and Touched By an Angel. She continued her big-screen trend after Girl with Bless the Child(2000), playing Jenna with Kim Basinger; and as Wilemina in Perfume (2001) with Morena Baccarin, Coolio, and Jeff Goldblum. In 2002, awesome Angela was cast as May Dove Canady, the lead character in the horror film May, along with Jeremy Sisto and Anna Faris; the film picked up nine awards and an additional 8 nominations from various film festivals, with Angela herself bringing in four wins and two noms. Perhaps sensing a kindred genre, she went on to appear in numerous thriller and horror flicks, including Coastlines(2002) with Timothy Olyphant and Josh Brolin; Toolbox Murders (2004); The Woods (2006) with Patricia Clarkson; Roman (2006) with Kristen Bell; Scar (2007); Wicked Lake (2008); and 12 Hour Shift (2020). Angie expanded that to television, picking up the lead role of Carietta “Carrie” White in the TV movie version of the classic Steven King novel Carrie (2002), where you get glimpses of her naked form; and as Ida Teeter in the series Masters of Horror in 2006. Early in her career, the hottie also took on the part of Lolly Ann Summers in The Last Best Sunday (1999), a film directed by Don Most (Ralph Malph!), and gave us the first best reason to love this lovely, given that her breasts are naked in the movie.
