Far and away smarter than the average human pin cushion who embarks upon a career as a porn movie princess, and way prettier too, celebrated French XXX thespian Ovidie is a brunette beauty blessed with a classic heart-shaped face and porcelain-pale complexion. In paintings of the Renaissance, as in Ovidie’s appearances in mainstream French films including Mortel transfert (AKA Mortal Transfer) (2000) and The Pornographer (2001), such a face is presented as if it contains a perfect balance of all that is pure and all that is profane about the nature of the feminine beast. Purely profane is the allure of Ovidie’s body, presented in dozens of French porno flicks. Twistedly profane is the pure sexual vision of her mind, as evident in Orgie en noir (AKA Orgy in Black) (2002), an acclaimed X-rated achievement that the prodigy of porn both wrote and directed. Remember when we said that Ovidie was smarter than the average porn star? We weren’t basing that on her avant-garde origins, but because she has directed 23 projects, written 14, edited six, produced two, and even did the cinematography and camera work for a handful of others. She recently masterminded the miniseries Libres! (AKA Free!), but we love her best when she’s mastering dongs rather than minds.
