All the gorgeous hippies weren’t in the United States, you know. Michèle Mercure is a perfect example of the Canadian flower children who helped forge the sexual revolution up North. Michèle is particularly stunning in Loving and Laughing (1971), where she’s all sunny innocence as a naked gal frolicking on the beach–and also happy to share her shower stall with a girlfriend. It’s a much different Michèle that we see in East End Hustle (1976), where she has a hardened look that makes her topless tough-girl pose seem even sexier. Hey, it was a long way from the ’60s by then. Michèle worked steadily, though, until a turn as a lovely secretary in Au pays de Zom (1983). Then she went the way of the Summer of Love.
