Sandra Ballesteros

Sandra Ballesteros is one of the foxiest actresses to ever come out of Buenos Aires, but it wasn’t until her fortieth year that she got buenos bares! Sandra started her career as many beautiful newcomers to the acting world do–with bit parts as the token sexy gal or work as an extra–but hit her stride in 1992 when she landed a plum role as ripe and ready prostitute/dream girl Ana in El Lado oscuro del corazón, for which she won an Argentinean Film Critics’ Award for Best New Actress. She continued to work steadily on screens large and small throughout the 1990s but dared not shuck her duds until, nearly a decade after the release of her breakthrough role, she returned for El Lado oscuro del corazón 2 (2001). This time Ana truly captured the spirit of her prosty character, i.e. she busted out her beach Ballesteros! The long wait was worth it for patient audiences dreaming of stuffing Ana’s empanada. The film may not have had the critical success of the original, but it hasn’t hampered this lush, plush sexbomb from being continuously offered roles. Movies, television . . . Ana’s been doing it all. All, that is, except giving her panting fans a cinematic peek at her tango. We’ll cry for you, Argentina.
