Americans may know Silvia Pinal best from the nosebleed channels on their TV dial, where she is a regular on the hotly expressive Spanish-language programs. But south of the border they know this Mexican hot tamale for her south-of-her-border exposure. She began her career as a leading lady in the ’40s, but it was under the direction of the famous surrealist Luis Buñuel in the bizarre religious morality tale Simon of the Desert (1965) that she first revealed her tortilla-busting breast burritos. The shot is from above as Silvia pulls her low-slung neckline down behind her high-rising bust line. Viewers’ shots were heard below the belt. It wasn’t until Divinas palabras (1977) that she delivered the hole package, stripping naked in a crowd, causing a bit of shock until some gal pinched Silvia’s nipples and everything got crazy.
