Born “Vanessa Mae-Ann Uri” on December 11, 1981, in Santa Maria, Laguna, Halina Perez had a brief, but daring onscreen career. After enrolling at Enverga University, Halina transferred to Manila, which is where she broke into show business. And by “show business,” we mean, “show it all and leave no stick of clothing behind business.” That’s right — Halina’s specialties were erotic thrillers and sexy comedies, and she left a deliciously erotic sampling of her breast parts preserved on celluloid. Some of her earliest credits include works such as Alipin ng tukso (2000), in which she played a nude model, Amoresko: Damong ligaw (2001), which found her flashing her fur, and Kasiping (2002), which ended with a whimper and a bang. She went on to appear in works such as Hinog sa Pilit: Sobra sa Tamis (2002), Ligaya: Pantasya ng Bayan (2002), Biglang Liko (2002), Alyas Bomba Queen (2002), Sex Files (2002), Kasiping (2002), Kiskisan (2003), Balat-Sibuyas (2003), Asboobs: Asal Bobo (2003), and Kirot Sa Dibdib (2004). Sadly, on March 4, 2004, after attending the opening of a Konica photo store in Legazpi City, Halina’s van collided with a truck head-on, and her manager was instantly killed. Halina had broken her neck, but she was still breathing when rescuers pulled her body out of the wreckage. But the star had passed away by the time she arrived at the hospital.
