Limber, flexible, toned, and sexy—those are the traits that earned Trina Parks the distinction of being the first African-American female in a James Bond movie, the classic Diamonds Are Forever (1971) with Sean Connery. Dressed in a bright-yellow bikini (classic Bond attire) that shows off miles of her dark skin and a hella good set of gams, she flips over and over and over in an effort to beat James into submission. Swing kicks and split poses show off her agility and fine figure to her best advantage, and to everyone’s approval and delight. And the real kicker? (Pun intended, as always.) Her character’s name is Thumper—be still Mr. Skin’s thumping heart. Beyond her villainous role in Diamonds, she appeared in the TV series Night Gallery the same year, and McCoy a few years later in 1975. She made another big-screen appearance as leading lady Syreena in Darktown Strutters (1975), and one as Marcie in The Muthers (1976), where she made her one and only topless appearance on film! Way many years later, she played Amina in the movie Immortal Kiss: Queen of the Night (2012). And still, even more years later, she was Joy Morris in 111 the Force (2020). And what was the delectable Ms. Parks doing between her movie roles? An accomplished dancer and singer, the Brooklyn native appeared in numerous stage productions on and off Broadway, and even starred in the Fabulous Palm Springs Follies, a cabaret dedicated to older dancers—a performance of which you can see on her YouTube channel.
